The parties to this contract governed by the Laws of England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales are the service provider the urban chef, also referred to as ‘us’, ‘we’ or ‘our’ and the purchaser of services (or participant in the case of a gift), referred to within these terms as ‘customer’ or ‘customers’.
In accepting these terms, you agree to receive electronic marketing material from the urban chefs to the email address you provide. You may opt out from future electronic marketing material by selecting the unsubscribe.
Use of our website
In order to purchase Products or Classes on our Website and lawfully enter into and form contracts on our Website you must:
– Register by providing your real name, phone number, e-mail address, payment details and other requested information;
– Stipulate a bona fide delivery address. Please note that PO box numbers, hotels and accommodation addresses are not acceptable.
You warrant that the Personal Information which you are required to provide when you register as a customer is up to date, true, accurate and complete. You agree not to impersonate any other person or entity or to use a false name or a name that you are not authorised to use. You must inform us immediately of any changes to your Personal Information by updating this as and when necessary.
We will treat all of your Personal Information as confidential (although we reserve the right to disclose this information in the circumstances set out below). We will keep it on a secure server and we will fully comply with all applicable UK Data Protection and consumer legislation.
When you buy products or classes from us via our Website, we will ask you to input and will collect personal information from you such as your name, e-mail address, billing address, delivery address, telephone number, product selections, credit card or other payment information and a password. We may also collect information about where you are on the internet (e.g. the URL you came from, IP address, domain types such as .”co.uk” and .”com”), your browser type, the country you accessed the site from, the pages of our Website that were viewed during your visit and any search terms that you entered on our Website (“User Information”). We may collect this information even if you do not register with us.
We confirm that any personal information which you provide to us (or which is available on public registers) and any user information from which we can identify you, is held in accordance with the registration we have with the Data Commissioner’s Office. We will use your information only for the following purposes:
– Processing your orders;
– Statistical purposes to improve our website and its services to you;
– Servicing website content
– Administering our website.
You agree that you do not object to us contacting you for any of the above purposes whether by telephone, e-mail or in writing and you confirm that you do not and will not consider any of the above as being a breach of any of your rights under the Telecommunications (Data Protection and Privacy) Regulations 1999.
By making an offer to purchase a Product, you specifically authorise us to transmit information (including any updated information) or to obtain information about you from third parties from time to time, including but not limited to your debit or credit card number or credit reports, to authenticate your identity, to validate your credit card, to obtain an initial credit card authorisation and to authorise individual purchase transactions.
We will take all reasonable care, in so far as it is in our power to do so, to keep the details of your order and payment secure, but in the absence of negligence on our part we cannot be held liable for any loss you may suffer if a third party procures unauthorised access to any data you provide when accessing or ordering from our Website.
You should be aware that if we are requested by the police or any other regulatory or government authority investigating suspected illegal activities to provide your Personal Information and /or User Information we may be obliged to do so.
Under the new European Directive 2009/136/EC (amendment to the UK’s Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations) it is now necessary for us to gain opted in consent from users visiting our website to use certain non essential “cookies” and to detail where cookies are used and for what purpose.
A cookie is a piece of data in text form, which identifies users’ computers to our server and is stored on your computer by your web browser. Cookies in themselves do not identify individual users but identify only the computer used. We do not make any attempt to find out the identities of those visiting our website.
The only exception under the new regulations is if the cookie (or similar technologies) are employed to perform a ‘strictly necessary’ or essential service requested by the user. A good example of this is a cookie that is used to ensure that when you have chosen the goods you wish to buy and add them to your basket or proceed through the checkout, the site ‘remembers’ what you have chosen on a previous page. We do not need to get consent for this type of activity.
Our site no longer uses non essential cookies but should that change in the future, full details will be published here and opt in will be sought where and when required.

Cook School Gift Cards/Vouchers/gift letters
The Urban Chefs gift cards/vouchers/gift letters are valid for 3 months. Classes must be booked and taken within this period. Gift cards/vouchers not used during this period are void, no extensions are permitted. Gift cards/vouchers are non refundable and no cash alternative can be provided. Valid gift cards/vouchers issued for specific class types (e.g. the great British bake off) will be exempt from any price increases when redeemed against its intended class type during its validity. Any class gift card/voucher may be redeemed against classes or goods of a different value, however the gift card/voucher will be valued at the actual amount paid, which may differ from the current class price.
Cancellation policy For bookings more than 28 days notice a cancellation administration fee of £10 per class place will be charged. For no-shows and cancellations of less than 72 hours, the full course fee will be forfeited. This cancellation policy stands for all bookings being cancelled, even if transferring to another date. For cancellation of a booking made using a class voucher, the cancellation charge must be made at the point of cancellation or will be deducted from the voucher value. All refunds will be made in cook school vouchers; no cash refunds. If you are unable to attend last minute due to illness or other unforeseen circumstances, your place can be transferred to another person but not to another date.
For longer courses and those incurring travel and accommodation costs, we recommend obtaining relevant insurance.
In exceptional circumstances, we reserve the right to cancel published classes. Customers whose bookings are affected will be transferred to a suitable alternative. Scheduled classes will always take place on the day unless prevented by delays caused by force majeure which herein shall mean and include, without limitation, illness, acts of God, fire, war, earthquake, strike, lockout, labour controversy, civil commotion, acts of restrictions of any government or governmental agencies. If a class is prevented from taking place on the day by any of the above or restrictions in utility services (e.g. power cuts) an alternative class will be offered.
Our location can occasionally be subject to adverse weather conditions. If the urban Chefs School is open for operation and staff are able to travel to the school, customers who are not in attendance will be subject to the cancellation policy.
Printed prices are correct at time of going to press. We reserve the right to change prices at any time, which will be published on our website.
Minors attending classes
Our general classes are suitable for under 16s, young persons aged 7 can attend with a paying, responsible adult.
Where possible, our chefs will accommodate dietary requests with a minimum notice of 7 days prior to the class taking place. We are unable to guarantee that our classes are suitable for food allergy sufferers. Allergies are the responsibility of the individual customer and not of the urban chef cookery school. We are unable to take responsibility for allergic reactions to foodstuffs. Food prepared both on and off site may contain traces of nuts.
If you appear under 25, we will ask for relevant photo ID before serving wine. Wine will only be served to individuals aged 18 or over. It is an offense to provide alcohol to anyone aged under 18 or for an adult to secure alcohol on their behalf. We advise anyone 25 or younger to bring appropriate ID on the day. A day at the cook school includes wine with each course. Please note that this offer is not for unlimited wine. Wine should not be taken from the dining room to the kitchen. All wine will be removed from the table at the end of each class. We allow a 30 minute “drinking up time” from the end of the class. We ask you to respect our staff when enforcing this policy. In accordance with the urban chef Cook School operating plan, alcohol for consumption onsite must be consumed only in the designated areas. Alcohol cannot be consumed outside the premises. Alcohol sold for consumption offsite cannot be consumed on the premises.
Provisional bookings can be made for any course and will be held for 72 hours before the places are released. To confirm the course booking, payment must be received with that 72 hour period. We regret that we are unable to take provisional bookings for a course less than 10 days before the course commencement.
Purchases and distance selling
Retail purchases made by telephone or via our website are subject to the distance selling regulations. Should you change your mind after making a purchase, you have 7 days to notify us that you wish to cancel your order. You may notify the school by telephone, post, fax or e-mail. Return postage expenses will be the responsibility of the purchaser returning goods. Class bookings, class voucher purchases and fresh food purchases are exempt from these regulations.
Claims of breakages or other damage must be made in writing or by e-mail within 3 days of receipt.
In most instances, delivery for in-stock items will be within 3 working days, with the exception of some All-Clad orders, which are up to 15 working days . Orders containing non voucher items, or gift wrapped items will be delivered by an independent carrier. If there is no-one to accept the delivery, a card will be left for you to arrange an alternative delivery time direct with the carrier, THE CARRIER WILL MAKE A CHARGE FOR THIS SERVICE.
Where express delivery is requested, orders must be received by 11am.
The sale of knives is restricted by law in the UK. We will only supply knives to persons within the UK who are over the age of 18. It will be taken that you are over the age of 18. if you complete the order process as this forms part of our contract of sale.
All other urban chef terms and conditions apply to consultancy contracts.
- All clients are required to sign a contract, regardless of whether the consultancy is short or long term and for a previous client or new business
- A 25% deposit, or full payment if preferred, is to be paid when each booking is made. If only a deposit is paid, the remainder of monies owed must be paid to us in full within 28 days from the date of the invoice
- Cancellations must be made to us in writing (email or post) at ten days (minimum) prior to the booked session start time. If customers cancel after this point, the full deposit will be retained by the urban chef
- This website contains material which is owned by or licensed to us. This material includes, but is not limited to the urban chef logo, the “Cookery School ” strap line, the design, layout, appearance and graphics. Reproduction is prohibited without our written permission.• It is the responsibility of the customer to notify the urban chef of any food allergies. We cannot be held responsible for any allergic reaction or illness caused by consumption of ingredients used or dishes created in a booked session
- For booked sessions conducted outside of a customer’s home, if any parking charges apply, these are the responsibility of the customer
- Any property or personal belongings brought to any urban chef booked session are brought entirely at the customer’s own risk and we or the venue cannot accept any responsibility for loss or damage
- The Urban Chefs have public liability insurance
Kitchen, equipment and safety
The client who books the class is responsible for the kitchen or area provided for the class (unless a venue hired by the urban chef on behalf of the client). They are also responsible for the cleanliness and health and safety of the area and any equipment provided there (that does not belong to the urban chef Limited or its employees).
We require kitchens used for classes to meet the standards .If the kitchen planned for a class fails to meet these standards or is found, at the time of the class, to be in dangerous condition we will cancel the class or event. In such situations the cost of the class or event is non-refundable. In such a situation, classes occasionally may be rearranged at our discretion, subject to adequate alterations being made to the kitchen.
Once we leave the premises we are not responsible for any foodstuffs or keeping of food stuffs.
